The Homestead

Pico Play took on the creative responsibility of launching Phase 1 of the adopted 10-year Redevelopment Master Plan. Key feature of that mission was to realize an authentic Australian Station Homestead dining and function experience for visitors to fill a gap in Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary's offerings for both domestic and international guests identified in the Strategic Master Plan.

Solution

The solution was to design an authentic sprawling Outback Station style Homestead Building with wide shaded verandas, fireplaces and extensive use of timber, steel sheet roof and sandstone accents all functioning as an authentic classical Australian restaurant by day and a events venue by night. Positioning of the Homestead on an elevated site enables guests to enjoy a grand entrance approach and extensive truly unique views of typical Australian Fauna and Flora within the Sanctuary.

Results

Working closely with the CWS management and construction teams Pico Play have helped shape a truly authentic Australian Homestead building at one with its natural bushland surroundings and the Sanctuary itself.  Complete with an extensive function kitchen, large open plan floor area and versatile restaurant seating the client can now service the park guests by day and the ever-increasing function market by night.
